  • Posted On:

MISSION – The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) has announced that the Regional Infusion Center (RIC) for COVID-19 currently located at DHR Health in Edinburg, is moving to Mission Regional Medical Center, at 900 S. Bryan Road. Starting on Thursday, Feb. 10, residents can visit the new location for treatment.

“Since last August the Regional Infusion Center has helped more than 5,000 Hidalgo County residents infected with COVID-19,” said County Judge Richard F. Cortez. “We are thankful we can continue to provide this free service to our community to help alleviate their symptoms and improve their health.”

The Center will operate seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., administering treatment to residents of the Rio Grande Valley with a capacity to serve 20 patients at a time. The facility will provide monoclonal antibody therapy free of charge to patients with active COVID-19 who meet certain medical conditions and who get a referral from a primary care physician. These centers help increase bed capacity in hospitals so that resources are available for the most ill patients.

Due to the specialty of this RIC, it will function by referral and appointment only. In order to obtain an appointment, the patient must be referred by a provider.

Authorized Criteria:

  • Patient must have a positive COVID-19 Test
  • Patient must be within 10 days of symptom onset or positive test (if asymptomatic)
  • Patient must be 12 years of age or older
  • Patient must weight a minimum of 40 kg

Not Authorized:

  • Patients who have been hospitalized due to COVID-19, or
  • Patients who require oxygen therapy due to COVID-19, or
  • Patients who require an increase in baseline oxygen flow rate due to COVID-19 in those on chronic oxygen therapy due to underlying non-COVID-19 related comorbidity.
