The inspection process ensures the highest standard of care for laboratory patients.

The team of CAP inspectors came from the Houston and San Antonio metropolitan area. Inspectors reviewed disciplines in the Clinical and Anatomical areas of the laboratory and found no deficiencies.

"I am pleased with the comments made by the inspectors," says Carlos Gonzalez, Laboratory Director. "They praised the lab operation and recognized the team for the hard work performed in our department."

The CAP is the world’s largest organization of pathologists and a leader in providing laboratory quality improvement programs. Widely recognized as the “gold standard,” the CAP’s Laboratory Inspection and Accreditation Program has served as a model for federal, state and private laboratory accreditation programs worldwide.

"Our accreditation couldn't happen without our great lab staff and our pathologists," says Gonzalez. "CAP accreditation is the highest honor for a laboratory."

Laboratories accredited by the CAP meet standards set by its Commission on Laboratory Accreditation and approved by the College’s Board of Governors.

Each Laboratory is inspected to make sure it meets those standards and that it uses appropriate quality control and quality assurance procedures to benefit the patients its serves.
