Holter Monitors

Holter Monitors

Holter

A holter monitor is an external device that continuously records the rhythm of your heart for a set period of time, usually 24 hours. The monitor is meant to be worn while while you complete your regular, daily activities. The advantage of wearing a holter monitor is that it is able to track any changes with your heart that randomly occur, like changes that might not be present at the time of your doctor’s visit. When a symptom occurs while wearing the holter monitor, you can press an event button on the recorder so that time is marked for your doctor to review.

The Cardiologists at Mission Regional Medical Center are experts in determining whether a pacemaker or holter monitor could help you control your heart's rhythms.

EEG

An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a test that gives information about the health and function of the brain. It can help diagnose, monitor or rule out conditions such as:

  • Epilepsy
  • Brain tumor
  • Encephalitis
  • Brain death
  • Stroke
  • Sleep disorders

Early, accurate diagnosis with EEG can make more effective treatment possible.

Studies are conducted on inpatients at bedside and can be scheduled for outpatients.

Outpatient studies are performed Monday- Friday 8am-4pm with appointment.
