Mission Regional uses modern diagnostic technology with digital electrocardiograms
or EKGs. A safe and painless procedure, an EKG is administered while a
patient is lying flat and still. This test measures the electrical activity
of a heartbeat and cardiologists are able to determine if that activity
is normal or irregular.
Cardiologists have traditionally read EKG results on strips of paper printed
from the testing machine. Technology has advanced and the results are
now displayed immediately on a computer, automatically saving to your
electronic medical records.
An electronic EKG is an important diagnostic tool that Mission Regional
uses in the fight against heart disease. With the information from an
EKG, doctors can determine a patient's risk for heart-related health
problems and plan treatment to prevent or combat heart disease.
